When Billie got home, she quietly went to her room and cried for hours on her bed. She couldn't understand how Nina could hurt her like this. Was it because she didn't get up early enough? Getting everyone detention wasn't enough to make Nina hut Billie like this. It was true that Nina was very selfish and cared a lot more about what her friends thought of her then her family, but Billie was always the exception.
"Billie? What's wrong?" Nina had come home from the mall with her friends, and saw Billie sobbing on the bed.
"Nothing." Billie dried her eyes and forced a smile. She didn't want Nina to know how unhappy she really was. If all Nina cares about is her friends, then I'll do the same! I want her to feel just like I do right now! It's only fair! It'll serve her right for hurting me!
"Are you sure?"
"Oh yeah! In fact I was going out right now to see some friends."
"Great! I just got back from the mall, and I so don't feel like doing homework! Where are we going?"
"We? Sorry Nina. You're not invited."
"What? But we always do things together!"
"Yeah, just like we went to the mall together this afternoon."
"But we didn't - Oh! I get it! Are you trying to punish me? I'm sorry if I hurt you, but I didn't think you'd be interested. You're not the mall type."
"What's that supposed to mean!"
"Nothing." The two sisters glared at each other for a moment, both feeling and accepting the hatred between them. "So where are you going?"
"Uh...To a movie!"
"With who?"
"Er...Emily and Kitana!"
"Oh. Those two."
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"Nothing. It's just that they're not exactly the - you know. Popular type."
"Oh. Is that so! Well...we're meeting up with some other people...like Chip, and Holly!"
"Holly? And Chip! Those are the two most popular kids in school! Why are they hanging out with you?"
"Wouldn't you love to know! Now I gotta leave or I'll be late. Ciao!" Billie left the room before Nina had a chance to say another word. As she slunk down behind the door and started to worry. How am I going to get Chip and Holly to hang out with me? They're too cool for us. I'm in trouble now! Maybe not. I'll just call and ask first!
Billie ran downstairs to the basement to call Chip and Holly.
"Yeah?"
"Chip?"
"Yeah?"
"I was wondering if you wanted to go to the movies tonight?"
"Like a date? -scoff- No offense Nina, but -"
"No. As a group thing. You, me, Holly, Emily, and Kitana."
"Emily and Kitana? When did you start hanging around those freaks?"
"What? They're not -"
"Look. If you get Macro and Kilobyte to go, I'll go with you guys."
"Sure! You got it!"
"Fine." And Chip hung up on her. Now if I can get Macro and Kilobyte to go, I'll be all set! So Billie set out to call them.
"Macro! How'd you like to go to the movies with me and a few friends."
"Nina? Who's gonna be there?"
"Holly and Chip."
"Holly? You got yourself a deal!"
And after a while, Billie was able to get all of them to go. What a relief! Maybe things will work out all right after all.
"I had a good time tonight Chip."
"Me too Nina. Who'd have thought you'd turn out to be so cool!"
"Um, Chip...I'm not Nina."
"What?"
"I've been trying to tell you all night, but you never gave me the chance. I'm Billie."
"I don't believe - Why didn't you tell me?"
"I tried. But you kept interrupting me!"
"No way! You lied to me!"
"No I didn't! I never once said I was Nina!"
"Yes you did!"
"No I didn't!"
"Yes you -" Chip gave a great sigh. "You're right. I guess I didn't give you much of a chance to speak. But I had a good time tonight anyway, Billie." Chip leaned over and kissed Billie on the cheek. "Good-night." Then chip hopped on his zipboard and speed away.
"Good-night Chip." Billie whispered as she watched him leave, before she went inside.
"I guess you had a good night!"
"Nina!"
"I saw the whole thing! How could you! You knew I had the biggest crush on him since kindergarten!"
"You were spying on me!"
"I thought we were best friends! But I guess not!"
"You're only clueing in now! We stopped being friends ever since you wrote that note!"
"Note? What note?"
"The one you wrote to me in class saying you didn't want to be friends because of your reputation!" Billie pulled out the note from her pocket and showed Nina.
"I didn't write this. It's a pretty good forgery."
"You didn't? Then...who?"
